Premieres, Masterclass, discussions and party! Friday and Saturday are full of fascinating films and charismatic filmmakers.

Colombia in my Arms

This Friday at the festival will be full of screenings, guest visits, and various events! Eva Mulvad will present her working methods to the audience in an open Masterclass in Kino Regina (1pm-4pm). After her lecture, her touching new film LOVE CHILD will be screened.

The Finnish movie COLOMBIA IN MY ARMS is a brave overview of the explosive situation in Colombia. The film will get its world premiere in Kinopalatsi at 7pm. The rhythms of salsa will then resonate for the rest of the night in Lavaklubi, where the DocPoint-club is organised.

Space Dogs

During the weekend the festival will host, among other guests, Rûken Tekeş, the director of the film AETHER, which is a praise to the disappearing Kurdish region and its unique nature in South-East Turkey. Beniamino Barrese and Benedetta Barzini will talk about their stunning movie THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MY MOTHER and our Estonian guest Margit Lillak will attend the screenings of her acclaimed movie THE CIRCLE. The producer and cinematographer Kristian Van Der Heyden will present the film he produced, A PUNK DAYDREAM, that brings its viewers into the world of Indonesian punks, and the director Nuno Escudeiro will speak about his documentary THE VALLEY, dealing in a touching manner with current issues related to the refugee crisis.


How to look at women? is an open discussion about the theme with researchers, filmmakers moderated by Long Play online publication. Director Beniamino Barrese and the main character of his film THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MY MOTHER Benedetta Barzini will also participate.

The festival night on Saturday will culminate with the award ceremony for New Finnish Documentaries in Bio Rex. Angel Films sponsors the prize for the winner of the Audience’s Award, and Nick Holdsworth, the festival’s critic guest, will select the best Finnish documentary premiered at the 19th DocPoint festival.
