Benedetta Barzini and Beniamino Barrese (2020)

Italian director Beniamino Barrese (b. 1986) brings his first feature length documentary THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MY MOTHER to DocPoint together with his mother Benedetta Barzini. Barzini (b. 1943), the 1960s supermodel and feminist thinker who is also known for being a muse of Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí and Richard Avedon, wants to disappear from the picture altogether. But Barrese is not going to let his mother off easy. THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MY MOTHER is a deep and original tribute to the director’s one-of-a-kind mother, and also a revealing study on the power of the camera and the gaze.

Benedetta Barzini and Beniamino Barrese will be in Helsinki from January 31 to February 2.
