Israeli human rights advocate Lea Tsemel (b. 1945) comes to DocPoint to present the film ADVOCATE. An extremely controversial figure in her home country, Lea Tsemel has spent the last fifty years defending Palestinians accused of terrorism in Israeli courts. This powerful documentary follows Tsemel’s life’s work as a defender of political prisoners. Tsemel is nondiscriminating about her clientele. “I always see the person behind the case. That’s the important thing.”
