Born in the US but brought up in Israel, director Rachel Leah Jones (b. 1970) and French director Philippe Bellaiche (b. 1967) come to DocPoint to present their documentary ADVOCATE. Jones is a celebrated filmmaker, who is inspired by subjects arising from the situation in Israel and Palestine (Gypsy Davy, 2011, Ashkenaz, 2007). Bellaiche is best known for his work in documentary cinematography.
ADVOCATE follows the controversial human rights advocate Lea Tsemel, who accompanies Jones and Bellaiche in Helsinki. “We understood that saving the world can be fun, too. And that it is impossible to reach a perfect state, but unless you try, you can never get any closer to it,” says Rachel Leah Jones.
